Located on the scenic campus of Vivekanand Degree College, Dahina, Rewari, the department of Physics started its activities in 2012 (i.e. the birth year of the college) and there is no looking back since. The department has turned into a beehive of scientific knowledge at both PG and UG levels. The expert, dedicated and research oriented faculty of the department strives to impart quality education to the students in the fields like Solid State Physics, Electronics, Quantum Physics and Classical Physics etc.

It has been recognized that teaching in this department is among the best in the state. The faculty is also very active in extension programmes. In order to give a varied intellectual exposure to the students the department invites eminent professors from IITs, BITS Pilani, I.G.U. Meerpur, Rewari. 

 The faculty members of the department are engaged in serious research. They have authored various research papers, chapters and books. 

 The department gives equal importance to the theoretical knowledge and practical one. Therefore, it has four full- fledged laboratories named: Solid State Physics Lab, Analogue and Digital Electronics Lab and Classical Physics Lab.
